About the event
The United States Treasury and the Financial Crimes Enforcment Network teamed up to combat money laundering and illegal business operation in the United States. As a result the Corporate Transparency Act was created. This Act states that as of January 1, 2024, ALL businesses that operate in the United States are required to file a beneficial ownership information report.
Businesses established Before 2024 have until December 31, 2024 to complete the report.
Businesses established After 2024 have to complete the report within 90 days of registering the business.
As of January 1, 2025 ALL businesses must file the report within 30 days of registering the business.
Failure to complete the report timely can result in penalties of $500 a day up to $100,000 and business owners can face up to 2 years in prison.
